This paper analyses a local community located in a suburban area, with clear rural marks: Vaqueros. It was selected by middle class residents in a context of macrostructural transformations. In order to understand local changes, there were analyzed as part of a wider process, as part of the suburbanization of Salta city. Then, the focus was the local space itself in order to inquire about different ways of land occupation from the early 20^th Century to the present. In the last part, we explore the traces of the inhabitants and the relationship with different representations of the nature. The work was based on: cadastral information; field work and interviews of different groups of residents.
