This article aims at providing parameters to understand the socio-spatial heterogeneities that constitute the housing problem of the City of Buenos Aires, based on a typology of urban environments or habitat types, which are defined according to the period in which they were developed and the form of production of living space. Using, as a source, data from previous surveys and data from the last National Census of Population, Households and Housing of 2010, a quantitative socio-spatial analysis is developed by applying a set of indicators that show different aspects of the question. It can be noted that the different urban environments that form the socio-spatial and socio-residential structure of the city present differential characteristics that complicate sociological and political concerns about access to housing in cities.
