Cuad. urbano [online]. 2016, vol.21, n.21. ISSN 1853-3655.

The importance of public transport in the accessibilty to health services: the case of maternity services in the Iturraspe Hospital of the city of Santa Fe, Argentina Access to public health is mediated by users' mobility. In the city of Santa Fe there are two hospitals located in the south-west of the city; there is a project to move one of them, the Iturraspe Hospital, to the north. Our hypothesis is that this change and the mobility associated with it will hinder patient access to health services. Georefencing patients' locations to the Iturraspe Hospital's obstetric services shows that moving the hospital would reduce most travel distances, but at the same time some areas will no longer have coverage of public transport. Since the bus is the most common mode of transport for patients, we recommend either to decentralize the health services or change the bus routes instead of relocating the hospital.

Palabras clave : Mobility, health service, public transportation, access, urbanism.
