Tandil: innovatión and local development. This article reviews the findings of research on "Local devel-opment and productive innovation: networks, actors and processes in three cities". It aims to analyse the relationships between the cities and the processes of socio-technological innovation focused on infor-mation and communication technologies (ICT), essentially in software and computer services (SIS). The research considers various dimensions such as the size of the city in terms of population, the presence of innovation agents (universities active in r & d, tech companies specialized in SIS, local governments concerned with innovation in local development), social and technological innovation processes taking place in the city, and the creation of networks of productive innovation among the various social ac-tors. The qualitative methodology employed was based on in-depth analysis of municipal websites, bib-liographic and documentary research, and most importantly, on six field work trips, during which the research team interviewed key informants from the local government, the National University Center of the province of Buenos Aires (UNICEN), and several producers of SIS goods and services.
