The present article aims to analyze and characterize informal settlements existing in the district of La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina. This analysis will serve to establish a general characterization of the modalities of territorial occupation in informal settlements. The methodology used is quantitative, the analysis of the problem is structured in three dimensions: (i) temporal; (ii) spatial; and (iii) demographic. Each dimension has variables and indicators that allow the measurement of data. The space cut is located in the peripheral area of the city of La Plata is in this the space where all the settlements of informal origin of the Party are located. For the temporal cut, the period between 1989 and 2015 is taken as the period of analysis.
