Abstract

GARCIA JURADO, Franciso. La peculiar fortuna de Aulo Gelio en la moderna literatura argentina. Argos [online]. 2009, vol.32, n.1, pp.45-63. ISSN 1853-6379.

This paper deals with the strong, but not very well-known presence of Aulus Gellius in the Argentine literature of the 20th century. The poet Arturo Capdevila made possible that Gellius entered the Argentine literary imagery, thanks to his poem titled "Aulo Gelio". This is how Gellius became a literary character. After that, a text from Noctes Atticae was quoted by Julio Cortázar in Rayuela, Bioy Casares also praised Gellius' work, and Jorge Luis Borges reread some of its passages as a fantastic account.

Keywords : Aulus Gellius; Argentine literature; Arturo Capdevila.
