Resumen

CAMANO, Rebeca Raquel. Una pócima peligrosa: la enseñanza laica para una "nación católica". El discurso de monseñor Leopoldo Buteler (Río Cuarto, 1936-1943). Soc. relig. [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.41, pp.184-198. ISSN 1853-7081.

In a context in which the conflict between secular and catholic school represented the coagulation point of all the elements that had become irreparable, in the ideological and political split between the church and the liberal regime (Zanatta, 1996), the fervent condemnation of secularism was a constant state of Bishop LeopoldoButelerspeech. We focus here on those pastoral letters issued in response to various projects submitted to provincial and national level relating to the teaching of religion in schools, in which three strands can be identified that will guide, in turn, exposing our analysis. First, religious education is high on desire and / or demand for a Catholic people recognizing, identifying the nation catholic with nation argentina. Second, there is constant reference to the dangers engendered the establishment of a secular education not only for children, but for society Argentina all, as was a toxic potion that led to immorality, anomie and eventually of nation suicide. Third, the establishment of the Church as the arbiter of social organization in an archaic vision of the institution as detentadora a spiritual power that should be subordinated to the temporal power of the political authorities. They all were united by a common vertex: the fear of a secularism that was characterized as unphilosophical, antisocial, unnatural and unpatriotic, and, consequently, a secular state condemnation, described as stupid and useless.

Palabras clave : secular education; Catholic Nation; secular state.
