Abstract

LIFSCHITZ1, Esteban  and  CATALANO, Hugo Norberto. Strengths and weaknesses of the Health Technology Assessment process in different European and Latin American countries. Rev. argent. salud pública [online]. 2020, vol.12, pp.3-3.  Epub Feb 17, 2020. ISSN 1852-8724.

INTRODUCTION

Health Technology Assessment (HTA) is a technical tool that tries to reduce uncertainty when making health coverage decisions. Methods: this work is a narrative review of the HTA process in a group of countries in Europe and Latin America in order to carry out a comparative analysis of a series of variables that are relevant to provide solidity to the process. Results: similarities and differences were found between the countries, both in the number of participating entities and in the focus of the decision and even dependence on political power. Discussion: the findings have allowed the identification of a series of lessons learned that deserve to be considered when moving forward in the creation of a National HTA Agency in Argentina.
