INTRODUCTION

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and taking account of the need to train health professionals in order to minimize the impact, Argentina's Ministry of Health implemented a project based on the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), which gathered health care teams from different institutions across the country and experts from the Argentine Society of Intensive Care in an environment of care coordination. The objective of the study was to describe the process and results of the implementation of the Tele-Rounds conducted between April 2 and May 21, 2020.

METHODS

Virtual meetings were held in real time in the form of Tele-Rounds in intensive care units, presenting COVID-19 cases through the assistance of experts. Participation was weighted through two records and participant satisfaction was evaluated through surveys. Recurring themes were compiled in weekly reports.

RESULTS

A total of 81 Tele-Rounds were carried out with 897 participants, and 67 COVID-19 cases were presented and discussed. Collaborative training and learning spaces were created, which facilitated access to expert advice and integrated professionals from the different institutions. The process was positively evaluated by the actors involved.

DISCUSSION

This strategy, based on the continuous updating of specialists, contributes to a comprehensive health care that improves the approach to critical patients, provides support and fosters human talent development in health.
