Resumen

MIGUELES, Luis Eugenio et al. Health service networks and cervical cáncer treatment in Posadas, Avellaneda and Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires. Rev. argent. salud pública [online]. 2021, vol.13, pp.91-100. ISSN 1852-8724.

INTRODUCTION

: The study of comprehensive multidisciplinary health care is relevant for treatments like that for advanced cervical cancer due to its complex approach. The objective of this study was to evaluate the performance of the set of health services for the treatment of cervical cancer according to the integrated network model of the Pan American Health Organization.

METHODS

: A sample of three service networks in Posadas, Avellaneda and the Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires was used. Interviews were conducted with professionals and patients, being reviewed their medical records. A content and discourse analysis was performed to interpret the operation of the networks and their determinants.

RESULTS

: There was a low correlation with the reference model. The communication problems between services and with the patients, which distort the therapeutic process, are significant. In addition, there was a low intervention from hospital managements and health ministries in the network operation.

DISCUSSION

: The deficient cooperation between services affects the integration of health care actions. The insufficient communication with patients makes it difficult to understand and to decide autonomously. The development of service network operation is difficult due to the low intervention of the institutional and health authority.
