Abstract

QUIROGA, Hugo. Tribute to Guillermo O'Donnell: Delegative democracy as consensual subrogation. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2012, n.24, pp.21-28. ISSN 1853-984X.

This text refers to a central problem of the work of Guillermo O'Donnell, the "slip" of delegative democracies toward authoritarianism as have occurred in Chavez's Venezuela, Fujimori's Peru, or Putin's Russia. It was also the subject which places him in a clear role of public intellectual, taking part in discussions about Argentina democracy nowadays. In his writing and in his personal commitment, even in difficult times, he did not accept the neutrality of silence or comfort.

Keywords : Delegative democracy; Delegated power; Public intellectual.
