The work of O'Donnell could be condensed in one of many possible lines, the most appropriate would be "democratize the State, institutionalizing democracy and strengthen citizenship. These three issues, which are also three normative aspirations in O' Donnell career as a Political Scientist, as an intellectual, as a teacher, and as a citizen committed to Latin America. In fact, all of his worries are the worries of young generations of political scientists in the region and beyond. This text is about part of these worries.
