Abstract

TONELLI, Luis. Guillermo O'Donnell and his commitment to democratization. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2012, n.24, pp.105-114. ISSN 1853-984X.

The academic field of Guillermo O'Donnell is marked by the categorical imperative to understand and to not remain detached to the historical moments of his country and the region, historical moments that he helped to define, to explain and to take part in an extensive discussion on them. A titanic work in which O'Donnell faced to disciplinary mainstrean dominant ethnocentrism to demonstrate instead, that the process that were happening in this part of the world, had relevance and interest to political science as a whole. The article will tour some of his theoretical and circumstantial concerns most relevant.

Keywords : Political science; Scientific production; Latin American.
