Inflation is one of the biggest historical problems of Argentina, becoming the central motif of the Alfonsin's government crisis of hegemony and subsequent menemism emergence and implementation of neoliberal accumulation model. This work reconstructs and analyzes the public media debates on this key signifier in the immediately prior period to the emergence of the menemist hegemony, in 1988. Based on a theoretical framework of political discourse analysis, placed the axis on equivalential chains that build political actors staged in principal print media of national circulation.
