Abstract

ALIANO, Nicolás. Entrepreneurs of themselves: Individualization and public life in women from a popular neighborhood of the Conurbano Bonaerense. Temas debates (En línea) [online]. 2019, n.38, pp.43-60. ISSN 1853-984X.

The paper aims to analyze and characterize specific individuation dynamics of the contemporary popular world in a neighborhood of Argentina. They articulate, in singular ways, processes of personal autonomy and forms of individualized management of problem solving in local "public" life. This exploration is developed from the analysis of the trajectory of three women, local referents of a popular neighborhood in the town of Ensenada. From an ethnographic perspective, the article reconstructs two specific aspects of his biographies: 1) The residential trajectories that led them to the neighborhood, and 2) the political dimension of a practice that organizes their everyday life in the local space: the realization of the neighborhood dining. From this approach, it is proposed to analyze aspects of the network of relationships and meanings that mark life in the neighborhood, as well as to highlight the emergence of dynamics of novel dynamics of popular individualization.

Keywords : Residential trajectories; Individuation; Women from popular sectors; Political practices.
