This paper proposes to analyze the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the dynamics of Mercosur. It is based on two assumptions: the first one, that Mercosur as a model of regional integration presents a hybrid character, with its own singularities. The second one that the pandemic occurs in a context in which the regional bloc has already found itself in crisis. It is argued that Covid-19 precipitated both the strengths and weaknesses of the integration process, accelerating elements that act at the same time on the reduction or contraction of the regional integration, but also on the bloc's capacity to adapt. We maintain that this is a crucial moment for the future of Mercosur.
