In this work the strategic plans of Spanish university libraries are studied, specifically, 47 publicly owned libraries. The essential part of the study has focused on analyzing allusions to communication in order to proceed to a comparative analysis between the different texts and check the aspects of organizational communication management that they reflect. Of the libraries analyzed, 28 use strategic plans, of which 85.7% address communication-related aspects. The most accurate and detailed information is in the actions (or strategies) and in some of the objectives. The priorities presented are, for example, those related to dissemination and marketing plans; improvements in the internal communication of library staff; or communication with users, etc.
