Abstract

FERRANTE, Mariana  and  GONZALEZ TERAN, Yanina. Bibliotecas universitarias accesibles: avances y desafíos en el contexto argentino. Palabra clave [online]. 2022, vol.12, n.1, e173. ISSN 1853-9912.  http://dx.doi.org/https://doi.org/10.24215/18539912e173.

A review of Argentine university libraries and issues related to accessibility, disability and accessible services is proposed. This work refers to the right of access to information of people with disabilities and the Argentine university libraries of state management. Faced with the impossibility of accessing a work in its conventional format, libraries face a problem in providing services to users who require some type of support. The latest modifications in the Argentine legislation on copyright, have taken from international law the bases to guarantee equal opportunities. The Marrakesh Treaty is registered as a guide and inspiration so that each country adopts it and can modify its intellectual property law, to facilitate access to information for people with disabilities. In relation to the subject and linked to the Argentine university libraries, the collaborative work of the libraries of the National University of La Plata (UNLP) will be taken as a starting point to accessible services and their relationship with the rest of the libraries of the Argentine university system. Finally, the role of the library and the librarian is expressed, who must carry out different actions to include all users as recipients of their collections and services.

Keywords : University libraries; Disabilities; Accessible services; Marrakesh Treaty; Argentina.
