In a social context in which the demand for education is growing, the labor market makes strong requirements to the education system and, at the same time, the qualification structure of employment does not vary, this article analyzes the connection between education and work. It calls into question the "well know" relationship "more education, more and better jobs". While the general trend is verified in this regard, if the analysis blurs the link disappears and even becomes more complex. For groups of adults and males, media workers and affluent social groups, the relationship between educational level - employment responds to the claims of the traditional speeches. However, when the analysis deepens, different phenomena are observed: "over-education" processes of the most educated, sharp devaluation of credentials from high school, vulnerabilities for women and youth, and a strong influence of the social level of origin even for graduates of higher levels. This calls into question not only the traditional discourses but the tools used to understand this phenomenon.
