Resumen

BRUER, John T. Neuroeducación: un panorama desde el puente. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2016, n.46, pp.14-25. ISSN 1995-7785.

In 1997, I published the article “Neuroscience and the Brain: A Bridge Too Far” [“La neurociencia y el cerebro: Un puente demasiado lejano”] (Bruer, 1997) on the implications of neuroscience in relation to educational practices and policies. The field of educational neuroscience (EN), as we understand it today, did not exist then. The terms neuroeducation or educational neuroscience did not appear in the literature until approximately the year 2008. Since its publication, that article (which, as from now, I will refer to as Bridge) has assumed a central role in EN literature. Here I will reiterate and clarify arguments and proposals presented there, and will also comment on how they have stood the test of time. Last, I will discuss its status in the present debate over the promises that EN opens up for the future.

Palabras clave : Neuroscience; Brain; Educational policy; Neuromyths.
