In recent years we have learned a lot about the requirements and characteristics that educational indicators must meet. We also learned a lot about the information systems that were built with them. But even those of us who are committed to its use and continuous improvement have neglected the task of promoting the expansion of the number of users, even knowing that it is they who, with their curiosity and need, contribute to perfecting the statistics they work with. This article explores the different instances in which indicators are used and illustrates each point with examples based on real cases. It is only an initial kick in the light that the situations that can be reviewed are innumerable. The objective is ambitious: to promote its understanding and use. The extent to which some of this is achieved will constitute a new indicator of effectiveness.
