Resumen

TARULLO, Raquel  y  MARTINO, Belisa. Perceptions and Reflections on Student Writing at the Current University. Propuesta educativa (Online) [online]. 2019, n.51, pp.108-118. ISSN 1995-7785.

A fundamental part of the activities that occur at university pursues the acquisition of disciplinary knowledge as well as the ways of both constructing and communicating it. In this sense, writing is an essential practice, since it is through its exercise that disciplinary and formative culture can be accessed. In a context of transition given to the transformation of production systems, of the access and of the circulation of knowledge originated in the digital era, it is of paramount importance to examine the writing of today's students. This paper presents the perceptions of university students from the northwest of Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, concerning their writing together with our reflections, both originated in an interdisciplinary research project developed at Universidad Nacional del Noroeste de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. The results indicate that students still write in paper and in isolation. In addition, they do not seem to follow disciplinary conventions nor demonstrate the critical attitude necessary to acquire and construct knowledge at this level of education nor have a sense of belonging to a disciplinary community. However, the conclusions and questions arisen suggest that it is necessary to re-shape the current institutional and pedagogical practices instead of making students responsible for the deficiencies.
