Teaching, like any job, requires means. It was traditionally associated with a series of instruments and tools, of which chalk, blackboard and books are still the most iconic. But, for some years, in addition to simple and material instruments, teaching activity has been carried out in front of, or together with, a system of digital machines. Information no longer circulates in a unidirectional way, from the blackboard to the students' notes, but in all directions, and is mediated by large technology companies that organize it through statistically regulated algorithms based on computer data provided by users. This trend reached its peak in human history during the COVID-19 pandemic, when physical presence was suspended, to a greater or lesser extent, in almost all countries of the world. Consequently, the educational system and the global computer system became the same thing, to such an extent that connectivity, and not face-to-face, became the necessary requirement for students to access education, and work, by teachers. We do not yet know how much of that transformation will remain, but surely many of those changes are here to stay. In this article, then, we are interested in presenting some categories of analysis from the philosophy of machines and other disciplines with the purpose of making a contribution to the reflection on this new condition of teaching work within a globalized system of computer machines.
