In this article, some of the intellectual uses of French social thought are analyzed in the Revista de Ciencias de la Educación (RCE), directed by the youngest Juan Carlos Tedesco between 1970 and 1975. For this reason, the methodological strategy adopted to carry out this study was qualitative, with a focus on the interpretive analysis not only of the articles published by the RCE, but also of the interviews conducted with its director in 2012. These materials were studied from the prism of a historical sociology of education, because they are texts that contain words, ideas and concepts that allow understanding the multiple strategies and points of view of pedagogical agents, in different historical, political and social contexts, on educational issues.

The inclusion and readings of some French authors, theories, ideas, and concepts in the pages of the RCE were multiple and each one of them was adjusted to the different editorial strategies designed by this publication in the different conjunctures of the country. Beyond its enunciative variations, this educational journal always conserved one direction: the scientific perspective as a rigorous matrix to build educational knowledge, in frank opposition to technocratic thought, essayism, speculative reflection and, in its last issues, with a distance calculated with respect to the determinisms of Marxist functionalisms.
