This article aims at analyzing the conditions at the time of creation of the National Teachers’ Training School. The study is based on sources coming from the written work of its first director, Dr. Wilhelm Keiper. It questions the political and pedagogical controversies of the first Centenary, focusing mainly in the critiques and polemics of teachers’ training for the secondary school. The work problematizes Dr. Keiper’s discourse, the formative aims of the Institute and the specificity of its study plan aimed at understanding adolescent subjects on the part of trained and professional teachers.
