GONDRA, José  e  SUASNABAR, Juan. Revistas pedagógicas y gobierno (intenso, sutil y prolongado) del profesorado: Estados Unidos, Argentina y Brasil (1855-1881). Hist. educ. anu. [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.1, pp.3-22. ISSN 2313-9277.

In this paper, in order to think about the creation of an agenda of teachers training in America in the nineteenth century, we choose educational journals as object of study. Particularly, we focused on three journals of national scope that had circulated in three of the four largest countries in America: from USA, "The American Journal of Education" (1855-1881), from Argentina "Anales de la Educación Común de la Provincia de Buenos Aires" (1858-1873) and from Brazil "A Escola" (1877-1878). When approaching these sources, we attempted to observe the existence of similarities and differences in the life cycles of the journals, the composition of the editorial pattern and the referral system to domestic and foreign models. From this exercise, we were able to account for the twofold of legitimation activated through the printed word, i.e. one that makes selections and mediations with local -intranational-authorities, and one that establishes a dialogue with the outside world, seeking visibility to what is acknowledged as exemplary; rejecting what is considered as old, backward or inappropriate.
