Education constituted, and still constitutes, a field of disputes, which illuminates not only the relationship between religión, society and State, but also the presence of a political and a religious diversity within the Argentine Catholicism. In the foüowing paper, therefore, a comparison between Criterio and Combate -two Catholic journals- regarding the nature of religión in state education during the military coup self-named Revolución Libertadora (1955-1957) is presented. The ad intra discussion in the Argentine Catholicism held in nuce the discursive strategies and concepts used in the conflict known as laica o libre in 1958 under the administraron of the radical intransigent Arturo Frondizi (1958-1962). The aim is not only to understand the difference between their anthropological assumptions, but the various forms of comprehend the relationship between the categories offamily, Church and State.
