Abstract

In this añide we study the place ofwomen in the history of early childhood education in Argentina; his point of departure is the thought of Sarmiento. In the first place, the importance attributed to the mother figure for the construction of the social order and the preoecupation of the modern pedagogues for their education is established. From these representations the añide recovers the influence of Fróbel's thought on the centrality that took on thefemale role in early childhood education. In turn, the influence of the first kindergartens and their heirs -who helped to build a way ofbeing a master gardener that crystallized over the past century- in the process of consolidating the national kindergarten is analyzed. To this end, texts on kindergarten that werepart ofteacher training in the 1960s and 1970s are reviewed.
