In 1919, within the framework of the Second Congress organized by the Argentine-Uruguayan Abolitionist Committee, Paulina Luisi presented the first plan and methods of sexual education in Uruguay. The work -where ideas that the author had been elaborating from a few years ago in accordance with her Argentine and European socialist colleagues are condensed- gained significant visibility both locally and internationally, placing the theme of sex education in the political landscape. Although, as such, the plan was never implemented, the text is significant to the extent that it can be thought ofas an important manifestation of the process of production of sexuality that developed in Uruguay during the first half of the twentieth century. In this sense, we will stop to make visible and analyze some of the conditions that made its emergence possible as well as the links with eugenic discourse in Uruguay. This work is part of a larger research linked to inquiring about the development of eugenics in Uruguay and its articulations with physical education during the period 1900-1950.
