Abstract

GOMEZ, Facundo. Latin American avant-gardes in Angel Rama's critical discourse. CELEHIS [online]. 2014, n.28, pp.103-118. ISSN 2313-9463.

The critical discourse of Ángel Rama takes Latin American modernization as one of his main issues. The analysis of his reformulations about Latin America's avant-garde allows the reposition of an entire problematic related to his reflection about the continental renovation of local literature. First, avant-garde is considered as a heterogenic aesthetics opposed to regionalism. Then, in his later essays, Rama integrates pursues of both literary movements and he elaborates a complex system where they coexist together, but with different orientations.
