This article surveys the transformations of the concept of identity in contemporary critical theory. Through a short genealogy of Cultural Studies, it tries to reconstruct the mutations of identity from space of resistance to its present contingent, precarious position. In order to explore these mutations two works, among other, are to be read: the film El color quecayódelcieloby Sergio Wolf (Buenos Aires: 2014) and the book BellasArtes by Luis Sagasti (Buenos Aires: 2011).
