Going through Rubén Darío's poetry and his 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition chronicles permits conceiving of two ways of seeing and listening to modernity and capitalism. In this work we seek to interrogate both the staging of a new regime of visibility and hearing and their points of resistance. This is not a question that involves isolated or autonomous modes but a dialogue in which zones of blindness and deafness are configured as well as overlapping and contact zones: between goods or industrial artifacts, and the art world, the figurations of a panoramic view and the detailed gaze, a dreamy world is proposed, out of time, interrupted by the flaw or the disappointment ("chasco") conforming the fold of modern sensibility.
