In the last decades, some incisive theoretical approaches on the chronicle as a genre enriched the studies on Rubén Darío. His chronicles were still relegated to a background for many years, because of discursive mixture and their insertion on the pages of newspapers, involving certain non-literary requests. However, in many of these journalistic texts, Darío shows strategies, topics and obsessions also present in his poems, tales and autobiographical texts. Nowadays, it is possible to affirm that there are links among most of the different discursive zones of Darío's work. This paper intends to give answer to a formal worry about how to put in relief the mechanisms that articulate these two discursive frameworks : chronicle and essay, perception and reflection, description and argumentation, in the intersection of other discourses in the texts: poetry, memoirs, notes and other modes of journey literature. This critical reading analyzes a wide selection of texts extracted from different volumes of the Nicaraguan writer and from some compilations of his dispersed writings.
