Abstract

IRIARTE, Ignacio. Leonardo Padura and the political transformations of today. CELEHIS [online]. 2018, n.35, pp.1-15. ISSN 2313-9463.

In the novel Herejes, Leonardo Padura presents a comparison between Cuban revolution and Jewish religion. The purpose of this paper is to take this thesis to develop an interpretation of both Padura's novel and some social aspects. In the first part I analyze sacrifice and circumcision as practices to understand what I call "ideological circumcision". I develop this aspect through a reading of the Padilla case. In the second part I describe the transformations that take place in power systems since the end of the 20th century. If in the societies inscribed in the liberal democracy disappear the great references as organizers of the social languages (Nation, Race, Revolution, Leader), in Herejes Padura demonstrates how this process takes place in Cuba. The final objective of this work is to analyze these transformations.

Keywords : Revolution; Judaism; circumcision; Cuba; Padura.
