Abstract

BUENO, Mónica. Virgilio y Leopoldo Marechal: el poeta, el héroe y la patria. CELEHIS [online]. 2019, n.38, pp.1-10. ISSN 2313-9463.

Virgil rewrites the myth of Aeneas and his decision places the Trojan warrior in a new position. Virgil's political gesture gives Rome the mythical story that every nation needs. Leopoldo Marechal is a writer of the argentine avant-garde. If the avant-garde has as its fundamental objective: the search for the new as an absolute category in the center of art, Marechal will find his own way of that search in the relationship that he establishes with the classics. We propose to analyze, on the one hand, the relationship of Marechal's poetics with the myth of Aeneas -the myth of the hero that founds the nation-and, on the other, the Marechal´s definition of literature and politics and  the figure of the poet that Virgil builds.

Keywords : Myth: utopia; novel; epic; avant-garde.
