Considering the expansion of agriculture -especially soybeans- in Entre Rios province (Argentina), the objective of this study was to analyze, in a first approximation, the origin, dynamics and tensions in the scientific and technological area of soybeans crop. Based on political decisions at international, national and provincial levels were taken two local research and transfer groups, whose work was instrumental in technology adaptation, adoption and expansion of this crop. Through interviews and document review reconstructs a complex field, intersected by numerous internal and external forces: political, economic, productive, public and private. In the middle the tensions between theoretical paradigms, institutional mandates, relationships, culture and territorial production practices, the powerful forces of international markets, the unprecedented public-private partnerships, local knowledge was built that supported the processing of all the territory of Entre Rios province.
