Abstract

ROSATI, Germán  and  MASELLO, Diego. Cambios en la estructura social agraria pampeana: Un acercamiento a la caracterización de los pequeños propietarios rentistas del sur de Santa Fe. Pampa [online]. 2013, n.9, pp.148-175. ISSN 2314-0208.

One of the consequences of the recent transformations of agrarian structure is the generalization of small rentiers (small land owners and former producers who had to give up some or all of their land). An approximation to the knowledge of this population fraction is done in this paper using a survey answered by small land owners in the south of Santa Fe. An approximation to the economic conditions in which the land cession has been produced and to the actual life conditions of this rentiers, is attempted. This attempt is based on a comparison between small producers (who still are in activity) and small rentiers. The existence of a stratum of land owners consolidated in the position of small rentiers is identified. This fact can be explained due to the existence of a series of demographic restrictions which are parallel to several economic constraints. Finally, it is tried an approximation of the return probabilities to the economic activity which these rentiers have. This is done by the use of a set of evaluation indicators of their quality of life.
