A debate has arisen about the possible existence of a geographical pattern in new venture emergence during this context of unemployment and ventures destruction. In this context, the so-called social economy enterprisehas arisen as a choice for organizing the economic activity in a more socially effective and efficient way. This study analyzes comparatively -traditional forms versus social economy enterprises- the territorial dynamics of that new venture emergence, in what can be labeled as clusters ofsocial economy enterprises. We used spatial-based econometric techniques. The sample is formed by all the new ventures created in Spain in 2001-2013. The results point out the possible existence of a certain pattern in the social economy new venture emergence in terms of sector and location. This implies the existence of some underlying factors linked to the territory, namely relational and institutional determinants.
