The paper analyzes the residential strategies developed by workers resident in a consolidated neighborhood in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, characterized by a wide incidence of formal tenure and a weak access to urban services. The objective is to put these strategies in relation with the labour trajectories of household breadwinners, based on their personal accounts. The data were taken from in-depth interviews and complemented by field observations and quantitative data obtained in a previous stage of the investigation. Research shows that strategies linked to the tenure status, location and type of housing are articulated in specific ways: diversifying according to the various types of labour careers of household breadwinners, but also showing the existence of common practices that evidence the influence of the territory on production of habitat
