The studies about the territory have given rise to various theoretical approaches from the fields of natural sciences and social sciences, and increasingly, from an interdisciplinary perspective. These studies are focused on the understanding of socio-environmental conflicts, through the construction of the territories. From the theoretical perspective of the social construction of the territory, using a qualitative methodology; this article focuses on the social construction of the rural territory of the district of Sumapaz (Bogotá, Colombia), through its space practices, the space lived by its actors and the institutional conceptions about territory. All this, as a result of human action on the historical process, with the power schemes and different forms of conflict involved
