Abstract

In this work of investigation it will be analyzed to gesticulate, during the period 1930-1950, of the official institutions and of the private owners tending to solve the problems caused by the plague of the phylloxera in the vineyards cuyanos. This scourge did his appearance in the country in the last decades of the 19th century and, from this moment, was spreading in progressive form, affecting the wine production of San Juan and Mendoza. In this context there turns out to be interesting the enormous quantity of provincial laws and natives tending to anticipate and eradicate the phylloxera. This legislation, for your part, allowed the creation of commissions and institutions specialized in the combat the plague, the accomplishment of congresses and courses to form specialists in the matter and investigations carried out by the Stations and Experimental Fields for the obtaining of new varieties resistant to the plague. These activities were complemented by the labor of important owners, who, before the increase of the hurts produced in his vineyards, assumed an important paper in the investigations and experimentations relative to the search of the most effective means to stop the advance of the plague.
