The goal of this article is to review, from new historic interpretations, the essay The agricultural situation of La Pampa, written by socialist Mariano Vélez and published by La Vanguardia Press in 1934. Far from being the emissary of a black legend, as seen by pampean history, this book is an important work to analyze the reading that socialists made of the agrarian reality and their strategies to spread knowledge. These facts were very important among the political subculture during the first half of the twentieth century. The triangulation of this work with texts and contemporary newspapers is done to make a deeper analysis and to give the necessary importance to Velez essay. This essay was almost the only socialist analysis about agriculture done in La Pampa National Territory during the thirties.
