This work is an approximation to the life and work of Alberto Falcionelli, a French-Argentine historian who taught at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo for several decades. In the first part the period of his intellectual and political formation in Europe is developed as well as his arrival in Argentina in the late 40s and the milestones of his academic and political life until the late 1980s. The second part is a bibliographical and conceptual analysis of the central categories of his thought, especially as far as Russian studies and Sovietology are concerned. Finally, the validity of his work is pointed out at the time of revisiting the Russian Revolution in the year of its centenary.
