In the context of a growing professionalization of state functions and institutions at the beginning of the twentieth century, the aim of this article is to investigate what were the objectives of the public policies proposed and implemented during the lencinist period (1918-1928) in health matters. First, it is considered the general of the sanitary system of Mendoza between the late nineteenth century and the first decades of the twentieth century. It is particularly centered in the characteristics of the structure of drinking water services and sewage network during the lencinist period (1918-1928). The characteristics of the water and sewage network infrastructure during lencinist governments are then analysed in particular. These were proposed to improve the infrastructure of the two health services in the provincial capital and expand it to the different departments far from Mendoza. Several official sources were consulted, the local press and the plans of the drinking water network (Mendocine Water Archive) were examined.
