The construction of the research field of special didactics of Physical Education has occurred within a context of ontological and epistemological dependence, which this teaching discipline bears since its creation as a school practice, with respect to better-established academic traditions and social imaginary that places the body and motor practices as complementary or disciplinary. Within this framework, legitimation discourses taken from other fields have been developed, and often, conditioned their research programs to the balance of institutional power. In this context, different research trends can be visualized, which, in general, silence or ignore the dense interactions that are generated in practice, related to the core of its meaning: the transmission of body and motor knowledge, denying the concept of special teaching. This study reviews the state of the art in recent years and presents the central theoretical concepts of a research program in development, which aims to build a better alternative.
