In this paper we present conclusions of an investigation that aimed at the process of disciplinary legitimation of Physical Education (EF) at the National University of La Plata (UNLP) between 1992 and 2004. Particularly, the article analyzes the debate that He gave in the framework of the Academic Council during the last curricular reform of the career in the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences (FaHCE), as a critical event in which different actors struggled to lead a vision of the discipline and the proposal formative From understanding the curricular change as conflictive and complex, due to the interests and power relations that it mobilizes, it is raised how institutional and disciplinary dynamics come into play in that process. The methodological approach was based on a unique instrumental case study that combined strategies such as documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews with key actors. We conclude that this change was a political dispute in which, although EF represented the weakest link in a substantive discussion on curriculum policies, it meant a replenishment of discipline in the institutional setting.
