Abstract

FRADKIN, Raúl O.. Independencias, revoluciones y actores en el litoral rioplatense. Travesía (San Miguel de Tucumán) [online]. 2016, vol.18, n.2, pp.11-25. ISSN 2314-2707.

The celebration of the bicentennials allowed us to verify the great difficulties historians have to circulate the knowledge they produce due to factors such as: the maintenance of conventional images, beliefs and notions, and the great imbrication of the historiographic with political-cultural disputes. This paper, which centers on the relations between independences and revolutions, discusses the possible relevance of revolutions led by subaltern groups, as that which arose in the coast of the River Plate. In this, the war for independence was, since its beginning, a civil war leading to deep transformations in local government, and the possibility of an Indian revolution in the missionary area. It concludes that the deficit and sufficient of solid knowledge of this matter will only come from a collective task of systematic exploration of popular political cultures and legacies eventually remaining from the revolutionary experience.

Keywords : Argentine historiography; War of Independence; Revolutions.
