The present paper is part of a socio-anthropological research into police forces in Santa Fe. Its main purpose is to present, the actors and the debate which come together in the passing of law Nº 4.685, as first legislative police statute, passed in 1954; during the “classic peronism”. In this convergence between police and peronism, we suggest that the law project pays for interests set by Peronist governments, both locally and nationally, especially in the Second Five-year Plan. Methodologically we make use of a documentary corpus, to give an account of the assessments on police tasks, particularly the notions of work, stability, police career and public service.
