This paper analyzes the participation of the workers during the first peronist government based on the distinction of three cycles of trade union action, relating the economic context, the political situation and workers´ protest. This first approach is completed with data on statistics, the most important bibliography and the results of case studies in the last fifteen years. Our central hypothesis sustains that certain aspects of the historiography on the subject must be revised and reconsidered. With this objective, we study statistics mostly on salaries, quantity of trade unions meetings, strikes, strikers, and lost day´s work. We also review criticism of sources and other types of information. The paper combines quantitative and qualitative analysis to appreciate the cycles of trade union action during the first Peronism. The alternative approach to the process sustains that trade union action increased and gained importance during this period.
