From the beginning of the railway activity in the country, the national government expressed its interest in the construction and operation of state lines in those regions that did not attract private capital to promote their economic development and, in turn, would connect the capitals province by rail. Whith the spread of tourism among the rising middle class and specialized workers enjoyed paid vacations, the General Administration of the State Railways found a new passenger traffic in this activity, which it tried to capture through advertising of attractive places and the natural landscapes accessible with the services of the state railways.
